Come on Chris your blowing up my spot, BTW I have seen some of the members here making fat purchases in the past. ;) Also a great place to purchase products for ebay, but not all the states use liquidation companies some actually hold their own auctions or sell on other sites (eg www.bid4assets.com) anyway the best place to get governement auction information is through www.firstgov.gov, I'll add another to it, it's www.liquidation.com now if my ebay business tanks because there are more people flooding to these sites I gonna be POed. :D

I've bought quite a few instruments there, but after awhile, it wasn't worth the hassle of getting it shipped, and trying to put the pieces back together again...

Actually whomever listed this had little knowledge of what he was doing.
Anybody ever hear of a B&L Ophtolmometer? And did you check out the wonderful spelling of opthalmologic, opthalmology, etc. Just a supply clerk who wrote down what it sounded like to him.

    AGREED .....

We have bought some things there and about 90% of it shows up smashed. They do not give refunds and UPS will not cover the damages because they just throw the stuff in a used box with peanuts.

Its like gambleing with really bad odds

    optical government surplus

Usually the items are listed by clerks who have no clue as to what they are describing. I've been buyiing surplus for 35 years and have some really interesting stories. It's disgusting to see how our government wastes money. A few years ago they surplused almost 1 million dollars (original cost) worth of brown plastic frames all 48-24-5 3/4 brand new never used. They were listed in about 20 lots. They only got one bid for one lot (original cost $96,000)it went for $35.00 And this is only optical stuff. Then last year another guy bought a similar qauntity surplus and they came from a differect facility than the one described above and all 48-24- 5 3/4. !! The govt. is deranged when it comes to spending our money. You would'nt believe what is wasted on the spare parts, etc side of the house.

That's because if they don't spend it, they gotta give it back. Or God forbid, pay off some of our debt. I suggest buying government surplus in your area, that way you can check it out before the auctions. They do usually have thes eproducts sitting in dank warehouses abused before they decide it's time to sell, so definately BUYER BEWARE.

Attached are some pictures of items we received from liquidations.
We may salvage a few parts.
Please see my blog about shipping equipment. If you cannot do it right, you will get these results.

NO.....The only time it was ever worth it was when we picked up the items in our truck. Almost every time they shipped to us the items were smashed.

Once they packed 4 autorefractors in a bounty paper towel box with brown paper used as packing. Look at the pics above. This is no exageration. They will pack multple units in a used beat up box with nothing more than paper for packing.

I have never had anything shipped as most of the auctions say arrange shipping which has always made me hessitent, but I have picked stuff up from DC and MD and never had a problem. I figured shipping would be a nightmare, I guess you either need to shop near home or road trip.
