I hate those "it doesn't matter who you vote for, as long as you vote" campaigns. It does matter!!! I am all for democracy, and believe it is the best system out there, but I hate the fact that some moron waters down my educated vote.

Perhaps there should be a weighted system of voting based on a combination of IQ, tax dollars paid, government dollars received, whether or not you like NASCAR, etc.

I agree there are voters who are less informed, but even having informed voters hasn’t kept us from electing awful officials in the past….

I think that’s a dangerous and anti-democratic argument to make.

If ever an better argument has been made about how the conservative movement prefers people not to vote…

I'm not clear on what argument you think is dangerous and anti-democratic. Obviously we are joking that people should be required to meet certain standards to vote. On the other hand, for those of who do not like the political status quo, pushing the "Get out and vote!" message is a very bad idea. This is a message that favors only the Republicans and Democrats because the other message that goes along with it is that voting for someone else is a wasted vote. I guarantee you that a huge percentage of the Republicans here who do NOT like John McCain will vote for him and a huge percentage of the Democrats here who do NOT like Hillary Clinton (if she is nominated) will vote for her.

Now that the Senator from Arizona is far down field, nearing the Red Zone, with no defenders in sight: any speculation on the GOP candidate for Vice President? At first, I thought: McCain-Giuliani.

Conjuring up visions of news story headings like "The Bucket List" and "No Country For Old Men".

I don't think it can be Giuliani. He's carrying too much political baggage for even the second spot on the ticket. And it seems like the Senator will be looking for someone farther to the right on the monetary, regulatory and domestic issues, to try to appeal to more of the Republican base.

And if GOP voters don't line up for their party's ticket?

When the smoke finally clears, perhaps they'll be summing it all up as..

Well, first you have to understand the local GOP officials here. Their head had to resign a few years ago due to corruption. The state GOP is bought by Big Coal. The head of a huge coal company spent $20 million of his own money to try to buy the Legislature. Fortunately, the general population caught on and he only bought one Supreme Court justice. Now another Supreme Court justice has had to recuse himself from several verdicts favoring the company after vacation photos of them together were posted.

Thanks, I realized there was a better term. Huckabee stated that Romney is part of the "me-too crowd"* and that he is not yet willing to be part of the "coronation" of McCain**. My bet is that Huckabee will join the "me-too crowd" at the coronation on March 5th. Any takers?

I'd like Ron Paul to win but the fix is already in.

We're going to end up with Hilary who will magically make a comeback and like her husband suddenly be known as the comeback kid for a while and Barack will take his place as her VP and be sadly and soundly defeated by Jeb Bush in 2012 to continue the mess his brother started.
