Optician/Optometrist partnership

Just wondering if any one has experience or have an opinion regarding optician/optometrist partnerships...

More specifically, the optometrist would own the office... but the optician would have a 50% or so investment in the optical side. Well, technically, I've heard for any type of partnership, a 60/40 relationship is more succesful.

Is this just destined for failure?

I'm in the midst of negotiating a partnership with an optician. He would have 40% vested ownership in optical. We are trying to figure out how to put the legalese down...will people have to write 2 cheques, 1 for OD and 2nd for optical? Will my accountant hate me? what happens if he wants to order the red frame and I want the orange? I've been through 4 opticians in less than 3 years. This is one way to have one stay and put in a solid effort and be conscious of quality rather than what day is pay day. (the last was not meant as derogatory to offend anybody). I do hope that this partnership will be great. Right now we have good chemistry and I have solid belief in this guy's skill and service. It's all up to the legal dept to make it work which might be the problem...
