Is the Accolade and the Physio basicly the same lens? I had a lady come in today asking for the Accolade since they talked it up at Lenscrafters. I have never used it. I thought I heard that it is the same as the Physio. Is it?

The accolade and physio basically work the same way. Varilux makes the physio and as far as I know dispensed the product first. But if your customer has never worn either one, it won't make a difference. Hope this helps.
Charge her the Physio price, give her Accolade that she wants. Your price will still be cheaper than the LC Accolade price.
Accolade is a very good lens at a good price. We charge much less than Lenscrafters.
What happened is she has VSP and got her last two pairs of glasses with us. For some reason she decided to go to Lenscrafters and did not have a good experience there. She felt a lot of pressure to buy two pairs of glasses and all around was not happy.
So she came back to see me. She was already wearing the Physio (that is what we fit her with last time) but was asking about the Accolade which they were selling at Lenscrafters.
Anyway, I kept her in the Physio but upgraded her to the 360, with her VSP it is only a few dollars more, it has a better AR, and she is about a -6.00.
I told her the Accolade and the Physio were basicly the same lens. I just wanted to make sure I was telling her the correct information.
Tell her that LC sells the Accolade because it is the "Generic" form of the Physio (completely true). LC touts the accolade because they can't get the Physio (except through wholesale labs like you). "It's reserved for professionals", you say.
It's the truth and it lets her know why she wasn't satisified w/ LC.

this is not exactly true-
from what i have been told by the RM over there - they are getting the 360's products from their essilor labs now -
and not priv. wholesale labs
also they have the accolade freeform - suns -
i have only seen 2 come into my shop so far -
now who really nows the $$ they are trying to sell them for - thats another subject
LOL
I drew both astigmatism and power cross-sections of both lenses. The horizontal cross-section passes through the center of the lens, and the vertical one goes from the center 20mm up.
So now we will know exactly if Comfort/Panamic are different from Naturals/Ovations!
Thanks
Well, I can't show too much here, but I made a comparison between Comfort and Panamic, and found something very interesting; While the power maps are almost identical, there are significant differences in the distortions, I attach the astigmatism difference map, Comfort - Panamic. Draw your own conclusions. The peak value on the right-hand side is 0.57D and on the left-hand side it's 0.48D !!!
LOL, I had recently called LC to see if they carried the Shamir Autograph lens and they told me "the only Shamir product we have is the Accolade."
I believe that in the Comfort as the add power increased the reading power stayed wide, but the distortion was moved up the lens to decrease distance vision. In the Natural the opposite was true, the add shrunk as a add power increased to protect peripheral distance acuity. One reason the Natural ended up in the chains is that it did not work well at high add powers (usually +2.00 and higher). It was Essilors first attempt to correct the loss of distance vision in the Comfort.
