    Question Visionsource Tru-Clear

Has anyone had any experience with the Essilor Tru-Clear lens that is private labeled for Visionsource? Any thoughts would be helpful.

No, I don't. But, I think the big lens makers' (not just E) private labeling of lenses for OEM use and multiple distribution channels is akin to the type of deceptive nonsense that the "mattress" industry employs to protect its various modes of distribution, i.e., private retailer, dept store, mattress store chain, etc.

Its a simple case of obfuscation being foistered on the public (and us!)

Not personally. But I hear good things - from VisionSource Drs! If I had to guess, it is an Accolade. Or the second place lens design behind Accolade. Or third place behind the Physio?

I don't think that any marketing schemes are forced on any of us. We buy into them hook, line and sinker EVERY time.

    We use the TruClear. . . .

and have not had one rejection to date. We've probably sold more than 100. Its a little limited in terms of materials, but they keep expanding what its available in. Its a pretty straight forward lens and with the private label AR we make decent margins. Not all bad in this day and age!

I hope you're all having fun and making money!!

I have a pair. They are OK. I can't say they are better than this or that, but it is a reasonable lens. I may start offering them to our patients. I just haven't got around to it yet. Yes , I am part of Vision Source.

We've gotten a good response to the TruClear HD (the semi-freeform version), and an only slightly less enthusiastic response to the standard TruClear. And yes, our margins on the lenses are better so we come out a bit more health financially. To do that with a good product is pretty nice.

As to the design: like most folks here, I have assumed it's simply an Accolade Freedom under another name. But I will tell you that I had a regional manager from Essilor come by last month who told me that the design is one Essilor markets in Europe but not in the US, and that it has certain design aspects similar to the Accolade/Accolade Freedom and other aspects more similar to the Comfort. If you find that confusing, you're not the only one :shiner:

A personal note: I've been wearing a TruClear HD off and on for about 6 months, in conjunction with my usual assortment of Zeiss and Shamir lenses. Recently I found myself noticing some fuzziness in my intermediate vision (computer at work). I was wearing my TruClear HD, and on a hunch the next day I wore that pair and brought in my Zeiss Individual. And, you guessed it, the Zeiss took the fuzz away.

We cautiously began using Truclear 4-5 months ago and have good success. Before we were primarily Hoya ECP and Kodak Unique. No rejects so far. I have 2 staff with 4 diopters of astigmatism and +2.50 add. They put the HD performance equal to ECP, Unique, ID lifestyle. I will admit out samle size is still small. Probably less than 50.

    Tru-clear

I have personally used Tru-Clear not only for my self but in my office. I am very happy with the results. I am a new PAL wearer and had a hard time accomodating to other lenses ie: GT2 . I 1st tried Physio and difinity and I find Tru- Clear to be comprable if not better. As for my patients, I have not had any non-adapts due to changing them to this brand.
