    Nikon's new Seemax Progressive lens

Just wanted to start a thread discussing the new Seemax progressive lenses by Nikon Optical. There are two corridor lengths. One has a minimum fit hight of 15mm(design 12) and the other has a minimum 17mm(design 14). Right out of the new brochure it says there are 2 designs for more choice. Design 12(12mm) is ideal for small frames and has emphasis on near and intermediate vision.
Design 14(14mm)Is for active wearers and emerging first time presbyopes (emphasis on far and intermediate vision). Ideal for larger or regular sized frames.

There is a lot more to this design than what I've stated and I am not going to cut n paste the whole pamphlet.
Nikon states that this lens is:
    a 3D Lens Design
    Digital Bi-Aspheric

It's 3D Optimization is achieved through 2 procedures

    1. Multi-axial process. The lens is divided into sixteen areas, each area is optimized according to the prescription, and the lens' relative position in the frame.
2.Frame shape process.Taking into account the eye's position in both the lens and in the wearers frame shape, each lens section is specifically optomized, rendering a level of precision that is unprecedented in the field.

    3D Aberration Filter.

Also Nikon expands the aberration filter technology to new limits.
The Seemax now provides 3D distortion control by filtering distortion induced by the front curvature and has an" Increase in plus power induced by the progression."

    3D Lens Design Benefits:

    .Peripheral vision 60% wider
.Distortion Reduced by at least 40%
    .Instantaneous auto focus
.Maximum vision via prescription power Optimization
.2 Designs and variable insets for each lens
    .Wearer-Specific visual zone positioning
    .Aesthetic appeal

I have tried to give you pretty much all the info available on the brochure. I would really like to here from someone who is wearing them, or has delivered a pair. I am going to try a pair for my self and will update as I get a chance to try them out.

I got the brochure as well... correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember going to a seminar about a Nikon SV Freeform lens called the Seemax. Am I mistaken, or did they just make it a brand?

They also have a new progressive lens called the Seemax. The launch of this new lens was made a month or so ago. I was unable to attend it. Anyone tried this new lens or have anything to add if they were at the formal launch?

They combined the technology of the SV lens with the other technology into a progressive lens. Haven't sold one yet.

Not to muscle in on your Canadian discussion, but is the Nikon name owned/licensed by Essilor in Canada too? In the US, we don't have a Seemax, but we have an Accolade Freedom, which sounds a lot like it.

I don't think the Accolade has any relationship with Nikon. Essilor has a JV with Nikon but in the US I doubt they will spit the pie of an Essilor named product with Nikon. It is my understanding that Essilor has their designs and Nikon has theirs.

There partnership probably works better in countries where Essilor needed Nikons distribution help. In the US Nikon was not a very strong brand. IE: the freeform Walmart sells is a Nikon named product.
