    Cutting Trivex on a LE7070

What is the best way to set the edger for cutting Trivex without a Trivex setting?

Depends on the Trivex variant - Hoya says to cut theirs wet (Hi Index setting) where Younger says to cut theirs dry (poly) on the rough cuts. Both say that the final finish cut should be wet.

I have a 7070 and I cut a bit of Trivex (Hoya's Phoenix). I was recommended by Hoya and edge it on the Plastic (CR-39) setting. No problems, finishes nicely. Polish cycle comes out nice too.

I have seen this before on other threads and I waved my BS flag. But if it works, I apologize. NO WAY will a wet cycle work on my Gerber Gamma.

It should - I've cut many a Hoya Trivex lens on a Gerber Triumph using the Hi Index setting. But the Younger variant won't - so we needed to cut those on the poly setting. Got to be a pain remembering which vendor the lens came fro so we settled on Younger.

Lately all my Trivex have been "chunking" during the bevel process on my Santinelli 9000SX. Can't figure out why...coming down too hard on the wheel perhaps??

I would start with PPG's helpful write-up on Trivex. I believe the edging info starts on page 28.

You could also check out Younger Optical site for some great info:
