Black Friday

Everybody knows that "Black Friday" is the retail indicator for the season. Anybody working today? Has it been busy or slow?

I work 7:45 - 5:00 today, it is 2:35 now I have seen 3 patients and made 1 sale. To be fair I work in a multi physician opthamology office and only 1 MD is on today, and only 4 of his patients are full exams for the entire day.

I showed up, but it's nothing like Wednesday. I've sold $29 worth of CL solutions, and dispensed 6 pair of glasses that we made on Wed. Pretty flat day. I've spent most of the morning answering PMs.

Oh well...can't hit a home run everyday!:cheers:

We've been a little slow today, but not completely dead.
Gives me time to tinker with my spare "test" computer.

Wasn't going to, but went in at 10, bailed by 2:30. Not a shopping day for Rx eyeglasses.

Not a bad day but far from Weds. Mostly the regulars coming in for their annuals and using up their flex funds before year end. Not a full book tomorrow either but Saturdays ar great for walk-ins since we are in a strip mall.

How can retail optical be a good judge of this when the a-typical optical business is slow during this time of the year????

On the hand, the news earlier today was reporting retail business was slow for Black Friday.

Black Friday is not for us it's for the Christmas shopping retail. But now through the end of the year has always been my busiest time. Kids are home from college and need contacts, insurance years that start over in January, flex funds that have to be spent, snowbirds taking care of last minute glasses, vacation sunglasses needed asap, etc. Plus I send more recall cards out in October.

Wednesday was pretty busy. Black Friday was the opposite of usual Black Fridays. Since we're in a mall, the morning is usually the busiest. This year it was the afternoon. We did 24 exams, so we were fairly busy. But today (Saturday) is miserable dead. Saturdays are usually our busiest days. Guess everyone is too tired from the turkey to get eye exams.

Unbelievably Great day. We had one MD and one OD on duty from 9:00am to 1:00pm. We had a lot of customers come in that had had exams weeks ago, but did not have the time to come in until today. We will definitely be opened next year
