Patriots " possibly the best NFL team in history"

Not my words, but those of John Madden. They sure are on a roll. Colts and their fans might not agree, but they had their chance and couldn't get the job done. I feel we'll be seeing them again in January, but this time it will be at OUR place and outside....where football should be played anyway. The Patriots still have a couple of hurdles to jump, but I think they proved Madden correct last night.

    How about those Pats Mikey????

Geee....John Madden.......he's not one given to hyperbole about teams and players when he's covering them.

    Yawn!!!

Just wait till my Dolphins resurge any day now that we got Ricky back! He's blow smoke in your face and leave you dazed 'cause he's got resistance, man.

Ricky will have his chance too! Getting back to Madden though, lets see if anyone can remember a better team. I would love to have seen a match up between either the '59 NY Giants (my all time favorite teamof the old NFL), the 59 Baltimore Colts (second favorite team) and the 2007 Patriots (all time favorite team in today's format)

How about the old Vikings with the Purple Gang and Joe Kapp? They could out-cold weather you! Phew! I remember one game where Joe had to scramble right and there was a Will just waiting out there to get him. Joe saw him, lowered his head and just snotknockered the guy. Now THERE was a tough QB!

I do agree with the statement that the old teams were a lot tougher. Playing outside with antiquated equipment. Playing sick and playing hurt. Who can forget the photo of Y.A.Tittle on his knees with blood streaming from a cut on his head and a dazed expression on his face. One of the best sports photos I've ever seen.

Did you guys ever see a regular season game with so many commercials?

From now on I think we may need to spot opponents 21 points just to keep it fair.:D

Great team agreed, but only won 14 regular season games due to shorter season. Madden was around for the 72 season too and he thinks the Pats are better.....I do too!

As much as I hate the Pats, I must admit that I probably havent seen a better offense in my lifetime. Defense and special teams are very good too. The offense is definately a well oiled machine. I do not see them losing a game this year, unless they all get benched after they lock up the home field.

And the 72 Dolphins haven't played a 16 game season yet!

Those guys would have run the table on any season. And only Garo had a poor passing rating.:D
Didn't they average only around 10 passes a game?

I REMEMBER the play you're talking about. The arm went forward, the ball went backward! What a blast from the Past! Thank you!

In today's USA Today Madden elaborates:
"New England, especially offensively, is as close to perfect as you can be. I'm not sure they're the best team ever. But they have the best offense I've ever seen."
Maybe you should rename the team to Marshall University NorthEast.Moss, Troy Brown,Chris Hanson and Jason Rader are all from MU and play for the Pats.

    Give me a break PLEASE

I will give you this much, the Pats are the most disrespectful team in history. No team in history has ever played to score as many points as possible. Who knows how great the other offenses were because they respected the teams they were playing enough to not make them look bad, such as going for it on forth down when you are up by 30 points not once but twice. Let me tell you how impressed I am that they come out of the worst division in the NFL and that makes up half there schedule, and out of 16 games, they have or will only play 4 teams who are even capable of giving them a game. So everyone lets all clap when the Pats win all their games and then lose their first playoff game. REAL IMPRESSIVE

They've had some squeakers here the past couple games. Could it be they've peaked too soon?

I disagree with you Big Daddy (and I am the farthest thing from a Pats fan). I think it is fool hardy to sit on a lead and give up points. It made me sick to hear some of the ESPN commentators whine about this incessantly a few weeks back. On the contrary, I think it is disrespectful to assume you have already won the game when there is still an entire quarter to play.

Anyone remember the Monday Night Miracle (or Nightmare depending on your loyalties)?

Or this - the best ever, as far as last minute surprises. Although many of the NFL fans who were watching on TV would probably choose something other than "best ever" to describe it!

    Impossible

It is only someone's opinion about who is or was the best at anything.
What would Jack and Arnie have done in golf if they had todays equipment?
Who was the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time, Jack Johnson, Joe Lewis, Rocky M, Ali, Frazier or George Forman?
All this is based on opinion and not fact. We will never know who was
    " The Greatest" at anything.

So you are supposed to take a knee? Some of these games were won in the first quarter.
I mean seriously, they are professionals, they get paid a lot money to play. It is the job of the offense to score points, it is the job of the defense to stop the offense. If you cannot stop them on 4th and whatever then you deserve to loose.
I love the attitude of the team. They say "come and stop us"
The Ravens played a great game and the Pats respected the way they played because they stopped them.
