    Burton Gaugemaster for Sale

It's in pristine shape - Serial #11-00-2980. Comes in original wood box. Originally purchased for $490 - would like to get a fair price for it, but we're at a financial cross-roads, so I need to sell this fairly quickly.

Has everything you need to calibrate your lensometer, calipers and your lens clock - plano lens with cross to verify marker (and lens clock), -6, -12, +6, +12 lenses to verify power, thickness gauge scale to verify calipers, 4.25D, 6.25D and 8.25D curves to verify lens clock.

Come on - no one wants a Burton Gaugemaster? This is the Cadillac of Gaugemasters and I'm willing to take a fair price for it - just make an offer.

Where did you get it from if you don't mind my asking? I just would like to know for possible warranty issues that may come up.

    Gagemaster

I called Younger optics trying to get one. They subcontracted a company in Japan to manufacture it but the company kept increasing the minimum quantity until Younger could not afford to buy them. There is not much demand for them.

If you want one better grab it. They are rare.

    Tolerance info for gaugemaster

I have serial #1201 (!). I spoke with engineers both at Younger and at Humphrey (before Zeiss's owners let them go) and they agreed that these are the manufacturing tolerances for a typical gaugemaster:

    Curves: plus/minus 0.02D
    Power: 6D = plus/minus 0.02D
    12D = plus/minus 0.04D
    Thickness: plus/minus 0.05mm

My Lab 360 humphrey corroborates the powers above, except for the -12D (-12.41 -0.08).

    FWIW

    Barry

PS These values were taken *right* after a coomplete calibration in March of 2006

Thanks Barry. I've put this gaugemaster up against test lens sets and the lenses came up in higher tolerance (using a Humphrey's 360 set at 1/100D). The 3mm segment of the thickness gauge is .02mm thicker than a plano (3mm) prism ring. I never had anything to test against the curves.

Anyway...this particular gaugemaster has been sold.

I will take $200.00 shipping included, email me at LDBeachtec@hotmail.com. I have owned it since the mid 1980's so if it doesn't sell,
