Well Oakley was purchased by Lux. From my understanding, Oliver Peoples was owned by Oakley. That would be the answer.

That's funny...I thought, based on your past posts, that you work for Oliver Peoples.

From what I understand, they had an agreement to keep things at status quo until December of this year. After that, Lux has full control of the brand. I can only speculate as to what this means of course, but if you look at the Lux model you can see what will happen.

    Take care.

Well if you had a chance to see the new stuff at VEW, there wasn't any new design work really, just an anniversary collection re-releasing old styles....that's a tell tale sign for the future.

And they moved distribution to the Oakley warehouse last week.

I hope Lux dosent FUBAR the line like they did with the others. It will be a sad day when 90% of the sunnys and 60% of the opths. have rinestones and plaques glued to the sides. The day lux plays its usual rep games and sends in someone that was selling shoes or computer softwear 2 weeks earlier I will have to pack it all up and send it back to 1 Foothill Ranch.

After this week, there might not be a whole lot left of that warehouse...

I'm sure Oakleys' really tenacious lawyers will keep those wildfires at bay. :)

OP is still designed, produced (in Japan - same factories) and distributed by OP. Shipping, warehousing and returns moved to Oakley, completely controlled by OP employees. OP wholesale design, sales, customer service and accounting is moving back up to Sunset Blvd. where it originated. Everything else is speculation made by those who do not have crystal balls.

Why in the world would you post:

"Anybody hear anything new about Oliver Peoples since the Lux aquisition?"

...and when people tell you what they've heard, you blast them for speculating? Is this your way of letting everyone know how much (or really how little) you know?

You remind me of the girls in the office that ask, "How does this outfit make me look?"

Don't ask if you really don't know the answer.

You asked what the word on the street was. You got it.

As long as that all stays the same OP/PS will be my go to line. I have always found their customer service staff to be terrific to deal with and the rep to be one of the best people I have met in or out of the industry. As with any big change in the order of command of a company wholesale changes in what made the company great to begin with can destroy all that was the cause of success to begin with.

Wow - very angry ! What's up your *** exactly?

I found the real information out since I asked the question a few days ago, instead of going with the speculation (that's how it's actually spelled, genius) from the previous posts.

    No anger here.;)

I just thought it was strange how you asked a question, making it look like you had no clue, and then you go on to tell everyone that you have all the answers already.

In reality, it's my own fault. Had I looked at your previous posts, I would have seen the trend.

    My fault.

Oh, and thanks for the spelling tips, not everyone can spot a genius when they see one!

Well...this is from previous posts where he discussed a former rep that worked for OP:

[Quote/makingaspectacle:]I have worked with Mr XXX for a number of years and I am writing this to coroborate every word and feeling that he wrote about himself. He worked harder than most of the people I've encountered during my time in this field and accomplished his goals above and beyond all expectations. He has extensive optical and product knowledge in every phase of this business, great fashion taste and posseses a natural skill that we should all envy - he really knows how to connect with people. He would be a great addition to any company, wholesale or retail.

Whatever the reason is that he decided to leave the company and go on to greener pastures is really his business alone and therefore should not be up for discussion or comment.[Quote/makingaspectacle]

Hmm. So what do you think?

Well let's see. Does Lux ever buy a brand and leave things as they are? Do they like the growth and profits that are already being generated and do they think to themselves, "we can't do anything to improve their brand"?

Of course the answers are No, No and never. They will make changes. And they will make more money with the brand. And it will be run like a Lux brand.

BTW, what;s is the model number of that Paul Smith that makes me look like Kevin Coster in JFK? I want to see if anyone has a recently stolen one listed on ebay. I can't afford retail, you know.

Don't buy them just yet...something tells me e-bay's going to have more than you need, and at the prices you'll want!

Redhot Jumper Deal not even done yet.........................

Luxottica Group and Oakley stated that they expect the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of 2007.

All you guy's are arguing over some rough speculation........................

The deal has not been closed yet and the fourth quarter only ends December 31, 2007.

Still time to have a few beers until then..............................
