    New Vehicle in the Garage.......

And the good news is that it fits! ( by about a foot and a half). I've always wanted a truck but with other considerations that was always put on the back burner. I bit the bullet last week and bought a Honda Ridgeline and I'm tickled with it. Drives like a car but has some great features. Is rated to tow 5000 lbs and has a tailgate that not only drops down, but opens like a door. A simple idea that no one ever thought of before.Pictures included!

GM had the dual tailgate on some late 80's early 90's station wagons and pick-up's. They dropped it after a few years due to auto body crash repairs. I guess it imposed an additional alignment problem. In any case . . . enjoy.

    Nice ride...

My husband and I were prepared friday to buy a mini-van. Went to the dealership, did a test drive, what a horrible experience we had with this dealership. <--I've never experienced anything like it. i am an easy sale too. I go in knowing what I want, ask 1 or 2 questions and done!

    But get this~

Just after 1 minute of talking to someone (who couldn't tell us the features of the model we were looking at) we were asked.. "are you buying today" ????????????????????

He then had to get his manager to answer our simple question.

question: what is the difference between the 2007 & 2008 model. both of them didn't know. and after the question (the manager couldn't answer) he asked us, "are you buying today"??????????????

Is it rocket science to know about what you are selling?:hammer:

We were so displeased, we thanked them for their time and ran out the door.

    Hi hcjilson!

I think those are great looking! Are they roomy in the back? I broke my little grand vitara last month - not a good idea to start in on hard miles on a car with over 100k on it! (4 hour drive in 110+ degrees w/o air!! But that's another talk show)

I recently bought the Mitsubishi Endeavor. Snitgirl - you should check them out! A little larger than the Nissan Murano and rides like a dream!

    Harry,

These new cars are OK but remember these?

    <http://objflicks.com/CarsWeDrove.htm>

I had a 48 Mercury done up as they were supposed to be. Ahhh . . . 1956 and a Friday night, a cooler of Knickerbocker, a full tank of gas and that girl that my folks wanted me to have nothing to do with. How sweet it was.

Sometimes used to leave the mean streets of Worcester go girlin out Springfield way but much classier stuff was found in Wellesely. How sweet it was.

I was only 16 in 1956! I didn't get my first car (52 chevy) until '59, when the beer of choice was ' Gansett GIQ's!

I've wanted a 48 Merc PU as long as I can remember. There's something about old trucks that the new ones, even the new D-Luxe forget-you're-driving-a-truck-it-rides-like-a-car ones just don't have- style. Knowing my obsession with old trucks, a friend of ours gave me a grille for a 48 Merc (pristine condition, no corrosion, and complete) - until I get meself the whole truck, this grille is going to be mounted on my home office wall as an incentive to get the rest of the vehicle!

    Cindy, Cindy, Cindy.

I was not refering to a pick-up. No self respecting yout would have been caught dead in a pick-up back in those days. Can't you just picture James Dean in a pick-up?

Of course it's a different story today.

Cool looking ride, Harry! One of our District Sales Managers has a Ridgeline, and he nothing but good things to say about it...

The side opening tailgate should come in really handy.

After going through three Ford Sport Tracs, I decided to purchase a Honda Ridgeline to use in Search and Rescue. We carry two German Shepherds and gear so it had to be large enough for the dogs in the back seat and have a cargo area that would carry packs, etc. The back seat is perfect since it folds up totally out of the way.

I put a brush guard on the front to keep trees and boulders out of the radiator. It seems to work. The bed was sprayed with Line-X because the Honda plastic is a bit cheesy. There are not enough good words to say about the Line-X product. I have been sliding gear in and out over the past year with no apparent wear. Finally, I had an ARE top put on the bed to protect my stuff. It too has worked out better than I could have hoped.

The Ridgeline has performed many layers above what I expected. After one year there have been no problems. My only complaint is the carpet. With dogs come fur and mud issues that are incompatible with this amenity. This is the one thing Ford got right with the Sport Trac; it doesn’t have carpet. Why would anyone want the stuff in a working truck?

    Good choice Harry!

    Roy

:DIf you'll notice, I specified PU, intending to make the distinction between 48 Merc CAR and 48 Merc OBECT OF MY DESIRE:D

And furthermore, I definitely can picture James Dean in a 48 Merc PU- that's actually a really hot image I have in my mind just now!:p

Nice ride, Harry. And congratulations on giving yourself what you've wanted!

Are you going to take it off-road onto the dunes in Truro? :bbg:
