    Question wet or dry

    Hi All!

I'm curious to know the pros n cons of owning a dry edger such as the Horizon
In the UK I've only seen one
As far as I can tell the only problems are that it can't cut glass which is no big deal these days and also it has to have a compressor and vacuum which makes it a bit bulky also I think it can't polish

    Love your thoughts

    Alan:cheers:

I think what I am really getting at is most machines are based around cutting glass which I think we rarely now use
As far as I can see the Horizon is the only machine that is based around plastic
So the machines we buy today are way over the top as well as the prices!
    Does anyone else agree?

There is lots of dust around dry cut machines. Then for polishing they have a mist that makes for a wet mess.
Wet cut machines do better quality on polishing cycles. They do much cleaner groves on poly.

I can think of pros for both, I like the wet better for less dust and smoother bevels, but when I did use an optronics dry with the blades it seemed I got more accurate shapes from patterns (long time ago) especially sharp corners on smaller lenses.
