    Acuvue 1 day...

Does anyone know the difference between Acuvue 1 day moist and Acuvue 1 day? They seem to have the same water content and are made of the same lens material....So what makes the new lens so much better?

And I believe it costs more for being that much better.

LACREON™ Technology incorporates a proprietary process that embeds a wetting agent into the proven etafilcon A material that will not “blink away.” In fact, there is almost no loss of the wetting agent over a 14-hour period. This retention helps keep lenses feeling fresh and new longer for exceptional end of day comfort.

cost is the same where we ge them which is ABB.

polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) this wetting agent is not released during wear. Thanks for the better explanation k12311997.

After the fiasco with AV 1 days being basically the same lens as the two week disposable, I pretty much just said screw vistakon when it came to fitting lenses. Every now and then I fitted them, but I liked several other brands much better.

    Yes to both.:bbg:

"Humectant" is what it's called. PVP is what they use. It's a moisture-retaining agent, applied to their silicone product to achieve wettability.

AV1DM is the same HEMA product, but the only humectant-treated HEMA or 1-day to my knowledge.

My experience is limited so far, but it has a nice upside for dry eye patients.
