    Ordering one lens only

    Hi there
When ordering one lens only what information do YOU think helps the lab. I'm writing a very short article (more like reminder in our newsletter) and I want to make sure I include everything. Since there's so much knowledge out here on Optiboard, I thought this was a great place to ask.

    So far I have; -sphere~cyl~axis~add
    -prescribed prism
    -monocular pd's
    -base curves of old lenses
    -OC placement of old lenses
    for distance (and near)
    -pattern (optional)

    Thanks for your input.

    Michele

    Thumbs up Vari's

When its a varifocal it helps no end if they state how much thinning prism is in the old lens. :D
Can say the same for Exec bifs as well.

    Hi Michele:

When you say "OC placement of old lenses for distance (and near)," do you mean PD's? Or do you mean MRP (mechanical reference point) for SV and BOC (amount seg is "below optical center") for Bifocals? Both are good to mention if you are only doing one lens.

Hi Michele, if you want to be really pedantic, and you want to balance the centre thickness to the existing lens, you should also give the CT as well as the base curve.

If it's a 'Plus' lens and you want to edge to a Nylon Rimless, make sure you ask for a suitable edge thickness.

Definitely, as John states, on a PAL measure the amount of prism at the PRP.

There's only one other thing you've left out....
what material do you want to use!!!!
