I look for where the screws are positioned. Sometimes they are in the worst place and can lead to problems. I look at the design of a semi-rimless to see if the frame moves will the lens chip. I try to feel the quality of the spring hinges. Feel the weight of the frames. Look at how the bridge lines up with the rest of the frame for distribution of weight. Look at the temples to see if they are too long or too short for the market, and if so can they be altered. Look at the paint to see if there are any nicks or scratches (would hint at poor quality).
I think that is it.
Thanks for life
Nice information,
But i need some detail information like.
What should be size range like 48, 52 ,54
and what does it mean. You can say ABC of frmae technical details.
Also beware of what looks like a full metal frame but is actually rimlon on the inside of the frame. Not inside the eyewire but behind the frame front itself. Look at the temple to make they match nicely with front (square up) and look our for wide temples. Hard to put any kind of panto on.
nixg, the numbers you see are telling you how wide the actual a measurement on the frame is. From side to side in mm. Following that is usually another number which be your bridge size in mm. The third number is your temple length.
Good luck!!
Here they are

Of course they are for your 'larger' frames. And the cost? Only $5.32 each:drop:
.... about new frames.
1- LARGE NOSE PADS....esp on smaller frames.
2- Eyewire screws at nasal.
3- Little or no panto.... and some are impossible to change.
4- Frame book inflated prices and huge discounts, never buy them. Why not just price it right and sell it.
5- Most of the people, reps, trying to sell you. The turn over is quick and they know very little of which they speak.
6- Bad colored temple ends.
7- Bad finishes.
8- Crappy spring hinges.
Whew......:D
