Drivewear® Activated by Transitions™ Nominated for Two OLA Awards
(TORRANCE, CA — August 2007) Younger Optics has been recognized as a leader in lens innovation, technology and creativity this year with two OLA Award of Excellence nominations for Drivewear®, a lens made possible through the cooperation of Younger Optics (manufacturer of NuPolar® Polarized Lenses) and Transitions Optical, Inc. and designed specifically to address the unique demands of the driving task. Drivewear is the first polarized photochromic lens to darken behind the windshield of a car, which allows Drivewear lenses to change color based on current driving conditions in order to enhance the driver’s vision and provide protection from blinding glare.

Drivewear has been nominated in the “Lens Materials” category as well as receiving a nomination in the category of “Marketing” for The Art & Science of Drivewear, Education Tour and Marketing Materials. Younger Optics received its 13th OLA Award of Excellence last year for its “Art & Science” brochure series, which is written and illustrated with clear, concise language and graphics that is both appealing and informative. Younger teamed up with Transitions to host a series of seminars across the nation to educate Eye Care Professionals about the unprecedented, revolutionary technology of the Drivewear lens as well as the incredible marketing opportunity it’s brought to the optical industry.

“We are honored to receive these two nominations, and I am proud of everyone at Younger and at Transitions who has helped to make Drivewear a success,” said David Rips, President and CEO of Younger Optics. “Drivewear fills a huge niche market – drivers - and we have gotten a lot of positive feedback from both ECPs and consumers who have tried the Drivewear lens. The optical industry has greeted Drivewear with great enthusiasm and we are looking forward to making Drivewear available in more materials and styles in the near future.”

The Drivewear lens is currently available in Single Vision, IMAGE® Progressive and Finished Plano Hard Resin. OLA Award of Excellence winners will be announced at the President’s Banquet on Nov. 17 at the OLA 2007 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
