Pete, I was just wondering why an Optician of your stature isn't a member of the POF. I'd think you, if anyone, would be supportive of your own state orginazation especially since you come from a state that had no licensing requirments. I know you. like myself, am proud to be licensed. Come on Pete, get with it!
I don't know about the "stature" part (I'm only 5'6" :)), but otherwise I'm "guilty as charged..." Although I belong to the NAO and OAA, I've never joined the POF. Other than the usual excuses (e.g., haven't "gotten around" to it, haven't the money, etc... which are pretty lame), I'd just add that I've never received anything from the POF on joining (which I figured I would receive after passing the licensure exam).
I attended a NAO CEC in February (by Wayne Riddlebaugh- sp?) in which the importance of our state organization was eloquently presented, and I remember thinking "that's something worth being a part of..." Suppose I'll follow up on that thought and contact their website (I'm gonna guess its POF.org). It would be nice if the state organization was aligned with the OAA... perhaps you know why they aren't?
