    Question

Hi everybody! (If you watch "The Simpsons," just think of the way Dr. Nick says that... D)),

I'm presenting my lectures and having a great time at the OAA convention, and several folks would approach me afterwards and say "that was the single most significant experience of my life...." Oooops that's the dream sequence version of the convention... I'm afraid Long Islands will do that to your mind.

Seriously though, they come up afterwards and say, "I'm from so and so state, and we'd like to have you speak at our next convention. Who is your sponsor?"

Thus the question, "How does one go about obtaining a sponsor?"

Thanks for any input y'all can provide!

Pete, I actually DID hear more than a few remarks about the high quality of the information you presented in the prism class. I just wanted to remind you to post the subscription information on Optican publication from the UK. So far as a sponsor is concerned, try contacting a couple of your lens reps. It seems to me that a lens manufacturer would be the most likely sponsor for a lens oriented topic.
    Thanks for a great job!

    Hi Pete,

I would also add that it is not entirely unreasonable to have the state association requesting your presence to sponsor your trip...

    Best regards,
    Darryl

The problem there is that most state associations don't have the money it takes to bring in top notch speakers. We suffer from the same lack of membership support that our national organizations do. When economic times are good, it seems easier to let someone else carry the torch.
