iS ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH THE PENTAX OCH- 10?
ITS A HAND HELD SMALL LENSOMETER THAT ATTACHES TO ITS CARRYING CASE! IVE NEVER SEEN OR USED ONE AND THATS ALL THIS OFFICE HAS TO WORK WITH. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP ON HOW TO USE ONE!!

I have one in my trunk, the mires are in a circular pattern (european style). The optics are comprised of plastic and the thing takes batteries or a plug. The lensometer works in the same way as any other in that you are trying to neutralize two seperate meridians. The difference is in the axis reading, when you get the circle of dots to come into focus if the lens is sphero cylindrical the dots will be like lines. The direction that the lines point to will yield the axis by way of the protractor inside the lensmeter. Then you refocus the lensmeter until the secondary meridian is in focus and whalla. It's a bit tricky to use especially when you have gotten used to the mires being the double and triple lines, but once you get the hang of it, it gets better. I would suggest that you mention to them that an investment in a quality lensmeter is vital to you doing your job accurately.

Ok...so I Have An Rx Here +1.00 -1.00 X 178....so I First Rotate The Axis Dial To About 178 (cause It Goes Is Steps Of 5)..load The Lens In....set The Power To +1.00........here The Question....do I Them Manually Rotate The Lens Until The Myers Lines Are Clear And Going Horizontal Or Do I Want To Get The Lines Clear Virtically First!!!!!
If we are talking about the same lensmeter (picture below) it shouldn't have a axis dial.

ON MINE HERE, CONNECTED TO THE EYEPIECE IS A LEVER THAT STICKS OUT AND ROTATES AROUND THE EYEPIECE TO SET AN AXIS. WHEN YOU ROTATE IT AROUND THE EYEPIECE THE CROSSHAIRS ACTUALLY MOVE TO SET THE AXIS.
I'll have to check and let you know tommorow, I will try and write you up a step by step on it and post it.

any luck on that lensometer? for some reason im confusing myself. its so simple that i cant figure it out!!:hammer:
If you can get some, postal stamp pad ink is great, it never dries. Otherwise contact your lab.
Ask them for lensometer dots!
Never look a the Rx or rotate the mires. Put the lens (frame) in the lensometer and neutralize then look at the Rx. If you expect a result (correct Rx) it will influence your readings. It's easy to find 180 when the true axis is 176 if you know it should be 180.
Take trial lenses and play with it then put glasses in cold an neutralize.
