What do you want, New for your lab

We manufacture tints, coatings and chemicals for the optical industry.

What new types of chemicals (tint, coating or chemical) are you seeking?

We are working on a few new solutions in our lab for the optical industry.

Chris - how is this an ad? It's a request put out to users of a given product or products asking for feedback on new products. Market research maybe, ad, NO.

And if the admins/mods were to move this to the marketplace, then I would suggest that they evaluate all your posts - half of which promote your products in some way/shape/form - thus those should be move to the marketplace as well. :finger::finger::finger:

Audiyoda....................Your welcome to make an evaluation yourself. I will and I do promote a product I have, during a discussion were Optiboard members have a problem and one of my products can help to solve and clear that problem.

However I will not promote anything out of the blue and have never done so over the last 5 years since being active on this forum. For that purpose I will go on Marketplace and have always done so.

And if the admins/mods were to move this to the marketplace, then I would suggest that they evaluate all your posts - half of which promote your products ...............
furthermore I am going to bet a big case of the best  with you, if you can come up with over 3500 promotonal post's I made, that would cover about half of the post's.

If your statement would be a fact, I would have been kicked off the Optiboard years ago.

    bout needs and science

As a manufacturer we are interested in what folks in the optical industry have a need for. Actually, we are looking to invent some new products. So tell us what you want and need. We will do the science. We like to solve problems.

Of course, some will tell you that everything has been invented already. As a matter of fact, back in the mid 1800's the Director of US Patent Office made just such a claim.

    Not Again....

'Cmon guys, don't go there again. I'll respond: I want Crizal in a can to do in the back room. And I want it perfect every time on all materials!

Hey, you asked what I "wanted"

    What characteristics matter the most

    FVCCHRIS

Describe the characteristics which are most important.
    Describe the most problematic characteristics.
What makes this product a winner for you.

I'll start with these few questions and I will have a great deal more.

How about a photochromic dye? Being able to make a transitions-like lens out of a CR-39 lens might be fun.

Larry, if you are looking to 'invent' new materials, seeking input in an open forum is probably not the best idea. There are others who read this forum who also are in the business of developing and commercializing new coatings. Some of these individuals might work for companies that have far deeper development resources than youself. This could give them ideas as well. Also, an open forum discussion could lead to brainstorming of ideas that could impact potential intellectual property.

A "cold" scratch and/or UV coat--i.e., something I can use without a traditional heat bath unit. I know they're out there but I've heard they suck.
So a good one, that would be exciting.

Ok, how about inventing an in house polarization process?

Or, how about a disposable polarized film that you can peel off when you're done, and then re-apply it later on?

James, we've got both of these products in stock.

They both work on the same principle, and the edger you use can be converted into a scratch remover, or a lens stretcher. It takes a little longer (sometimes a few days) on some prescriptions, and it cost the patient just slightly less than a brand new pair of lenses, but it works great.

I can't tell you here (this being an open forum and all...) but if you'll PM me you're credit card #, I'll share the secret!

    Cut to coat generator

How about a cut to coat freeform generator. The coater should have multiple coatings including those with AR in them.

Or maybe a hairspray type material that I could spray on hydrophobics so they wouldn't slip.

Try AquaNet - works perfectly for me. Spray, wait 60 seconds or so, block. No slip.

Even the stuff you heat in the dye pot washes off in a couple days. Shame on those that profit from that. The UV stays in, but the "anti scratch coat" in snake oil.

The problem here is you can't use the "snake oil" dip in the dye pot to coat poly (because it washes off). To be able to dip coat poly, the trick part would be having a coating that would do well on top of the front surface factory coating. This would be a big problem.

When they first came out, they had the wayfer on the front. Those wouldn't pass inspection out of the box.

    • Sun tints that don't go "red" two days after changing your tints.
    • Lensometer ink that shows up better than check writers ink on AR coatd lenses.
