Smilie +3.75 and higher for prog. - what would you do?

    OD +3.00 -2.00 018
    OS +4.50 -3.25 177
ADD +4.00 OU (actually was +3.75 but the OD changed it due to lack of product availability -pt. will have to hold things closer)

High add power, plus the patient wants high index - plus Transitions. Do you think anyone stocks this? lol.

The only option that I have found is the Varilux Physio. Not only does it come in high index - but also Transitions.

I could not find ANY progressive that went over a +3.50 add...let alone over +3.50 AND 1.67/Transitions.

Does anyone know of any other options (staying in a progressive lens)

I believe Vision Ease carries a 4.00 add and Nikon has one.

The Physio and Physio 360 seem to be the only lenses that have a +4.00 add/trans/1.67 (in the US). Hoya's ECP also has the power and tint you need in Trivex, a lighter weight lens than 1.67.

A +4.00 Add PAL is a pretty nasty lens to look through. Any chance you could cut the add and use readers as a supplement to the general purpose glasses? This would allow the use of atoric free-form designs like the Autograph, Succeed, and Ipseo, all available in trans/1.67 with a +3.50 Add.

    Comfort?

I haven't checked, but I think that one of the lab rats I know has a +4.00 add in a Comfort that he uses for magnification when soldering and polishing frames, etc.

Ask someone at the lab. There maybe someone there in that exact situation.

I agree - it's not going to be pretty. If they need that much mag or that close, wouldn't they be better served with a +3.25 or +3.5 progressive w/ a separate pair of readers with full near Rx.

    Second pair of reading glasses

Good ideas....thanks for the input. I will explain to the pt. this may be the best route for them...even though they may not like the idea.

By the way - I did call the lab. I use a local independent lab - that is able to get the Physio - and I also use HOYA. HOYA does not have anything that goes up to a +4.00 - if you have the "eye connect" electronic order system you'll notice it says the ECP goes up to a +4.00, however, I spoke with people from HOYA and they stated that the information listed in eyeconnect is wrong. The ECP does NOT really go up that high...

    Robert,

You're right, the ECP Transitions/Phoenix only goes up to a +3.00 Add. Sorry for the bad info. You can get clear ECP/Phoenix in a +4.00 Add. I know this to be true because I have a client who's wearing one!

I just looked up a +2.75 with a 4.00 Add that we can produce using our ICE-TECH individualized lens. We offer Transitions gray in 1.67 MR-10.

Contact me via private message or e-mail if you would like more information.

The HOYA Summit ECP is most definitely available in a +4.00 add in 1.67 Transitions Gray.
