    SOLA Compact Ultra

I would like to hear the comment about this new PAL from SOLA. Thanks.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

SOLA Compact Ultra features a 9mm corridor and 13mm fitting height – the lowest recommended minimum fitting height of any leading short corridor progressive lens. Wearers will enjoy the benefits of unsurpassed full-power reading vision in small frame styles.

    ultra

my person exp with this lens - is

1- higher plus pts do not like it that much - since in general they like the longer channels

    -- out of 20 i sold - i had redone 10 of them -
the majority of these pts where in the varilix ellsipe - and they inform me they are not even close to being the same - they say they pick up more soft focus - in the compact - them that of the ellispe - and these folks already in the ellipse returned and stated they rather pay the extra $ - for the better product -

i fit both at 13mm - and 14-15 mm - and found - better be safe the sorry -
i was alsways informed by CE CLASSES - AND LENS REPS - that how they determine min seg hts - is not a science -

they just take a group of people - and start say with 17mm - and ask - can u see well - then they drop it to 15 - and ask - can u see well - then 13mm can u see well - then 12mm - can u see well and they say NO _ so therefore they use the min seg ht -

take for instance comfort - i recall - they had a min ht of 21-22mm years ago --- then they began dropping it - until it comprimised the optics - and that is how they now state min ht is 18mm ----- they did not change the lens in that time - they just kept lowering it -

MY PERSONAL FEELINGS ON THE AO COMPACT ULTRA SO FAR IS -

i will use it on a new pal wearer - that has not exp anythign else - but I rather go into ellispe - and call it a day -

pt are usually happy to spend a bit more - get alize - along with it - and be very happy with VA all around -

    Not Thrilled with Compact Ultra

Just got a new set of Ultras, accidentally-I had ordered GT2's. They are a short corridor with a wide reading zone but a very narrow distance zone. I felt like I had tunnel vision. I immediately returned them.

The compact Ultra has a very small vertical intermediate and translates immediately to the full add power. Solaone has a longer intermediate. Tha Compact Ultra can be fit 13 mm high.Neither has the distance width of the Physio, GT2, Creation, Unique and the free-forms.

I've used it on little old ladies and early presbyopes without any issues so far.

Er, yes, the compact ultra is a short corridor lens and the ones you mention are not, so lo and behold the corridor is shorter. Kind of the whole point behind the compact ultra. Also, I believe it's 14 high, not 13 but I could be wrong.

I think it is 13 mm minimum height on the Sola Compact Ultra.

But, then again, I'm just a salesman. I can sell any progressive, flat topee thingy in any lens holder frame gizmo contraption doofangled thingy.

    Worst progressive

2 of our techs recently tried the Ultra. Both of them disliked or hated it. One of the techs has been able to wear any progressive with hardly any notice of the different designs. It's a very hard design. Lot's of side distortion.
