Carl Zeiss Vision Names Frederick Howard President, Americas
Dr. Barry Packham Named Executive Vice President, Global Operations

Carl Zeiss Vision has announced that Frederick Howard has been named President and General Manager, Americas. He replaces Dr. Barry Packham, who has moved into the newly created role of Executive Vice President, Global Operations.

Mr. Howard comes to Carl Zeiss Vision from Procter and Gamble, where he was most recently Senior Vice President for North America. In the course of a 25-year career with the company, he successfully implemented sustained growth strategies for product lines including Gillette blades and razors, Oral-B and Braun.

Dr. Packham’s new responsibilities will entail the management and restructuring into a single global operations organization of various regional and global functions, including mass manufacturing, production engineering, quality management and aspects of Rx production.

Both roles will report to the CEO of Carl Zeiss Vision, Dr. Norbert Gorny.

Commenting on the changes, Carl Zeiss Vision’s CEO, Dr. Norbert Gorny, said “We are very pleased that Fred has joined our team. His experience in implementing sustained growth strategies at Procter and Gamble fits very well with our plans for the Americas. At the same time, I would like to express sincere gratitude and great respect to Barry for the work he has performed. Barry not only played a major role in the preparation and implementation of the merger, but also created the foundation for future expansion through the purchase of Rx labs.”
