confused about prescription

I had an eye test done today, and was hoping somebody could enlighten me as to what my prescription means. I went for an eyetest as ive been suffering from quite bad eye strain and headaches while using the computer and doing close work.
My prescription is this

Right Sphere=-0.25 , Cyl=-o,25, Axis=130
Left Sphere = 0, cyl=-0.25, axis= 170

I guess what i'm asking is, as this is a very small prescription, do I really need glasses? The optician suggested they would help, but its difficult when you know they might also be interested in a sale.I'm going to be writing my phd thesis for most of this year, and obviously dont want to the eye strain to continue, but could it not just be normal use of computers?
