What if we all got together and had a web site showing the FDA ruling on the rx release law for eyeglasses ?

I would think if all the independent and all the aspiring to be independent opticians would do this and include a list of name, address, and telephone number it would be a business expense.
Carry this message straight to the public. I think they would show their support by doing business with us.
Offer a discount to them if they mention the page.
Let's get organized and aggressive.
Turn loose of a few $$$$ and go for it.
I would like to nominate Johns to be in charge of and handle the funds.

Any time opticians get together to accomplish something I'm all for it. What were some of the details you had in mind?

I know many good web designers that would come fairly cheap. Students in the digital media arts and technology program where I am a masters student.

Before anyone says "I can design a website" - these students have learned design research - how to develop your site based on the preceived and real needs of the people you are trying to reach. Part of the problem with a website like this is making it user friendly and reach the people we want to reach. Something to could be added to the site would be a submission of names of doctors that do not release of Rx - sort of a clearinghouse for doctors known for not releasing a Rx.

All in all, I think it's a great idea.

I think if you sign up at the OAA and say you were referred by a member(Harry) that memeber gets a break on next years dues if three sign on.

Harry, I will sign on and say you sent me. Thats one for you. If two more sign up, I think next years dues are free or reduced for you.

If enough people e-mail me and the support is there I will donate 2k up front and another 2k when the site is finished.
Tell the paying PUBLIC there is a RX RELEASE LAW.
It will not happen unless we make it happen.
