Private Messages - Top or Bottom of Page?

Where do you prefer the Private Message box - at the top or the bottom of the page? Up to now, these have been at the bottom. However I've noticed that a lot of people never check to see if they have any PMs so I thought it might be more noticed if this box is at the top.

To show you what I mean I've changed the Default/New Blue setting to put the PMs at the top of the page.

I would say top, certainly. I don't notice them until I get an email telling me that they're there, at the moment.

    Thumbs up Top.....

    Steve,

I think the top would be better for all, and also a way it may stand out more if you have a message. I only say this because I had sent someone a message on 05/29/01 and they still haven't read it yet. I know this person has been on as I have seen them on the forum screen.

The bottom line is that I think alot of people don't even know it is there yet.

    Corey,

Like you I have sent out several PMs that have never been answer or even read. You'd think people would pay attention to a private message from the OptiBoard Admin, but noooooo! :finger:

    Thumbs up

    Steve,

I noticed that you have changed the teal as well. It now smacks you in the face when you bring up the Forum page. :shiner:

Hopefully this will work and people will take notice.

I suppose another thig you can do is if a person gets a PM, there screen turns "Maria's Lilac". It is after all the only sane use for that colour!:p

Actually there's a few people I've sent PMs to that have never read them. I honestly think it's because they never even knew about this option. Generally they're people that I know very well but don't often post on the Board.

John, the PM pop-up thing is controlled by javascript and cookies. Again of you're cookies get corrupted, this is one thing that may be affected. Also not all browsers are compliant with all javascripts.

The sad fact is there's no way to ensure 100% compatibility anymore, unless we all want to go back to text-based messaging. Even then we may have to stick to pencil and paper!

    Top Rules!

Top Rules! Thanks for changing Maria's lilac!I was going to stick with Maria's lilac even if the PM stayed on the bottom...Thats how much I like it:D
My pop up window has worked every time...but I still can't get auto-generated e-mail.

I like it on top (private messanging, that is ;) ). I don't think I would see it if it were at the bottom!

What I want to know is - who's the joker that wants it on the bottom? Sounds like a candidate for OptiBoard's Weakest Link if you ask me! ;)
