That is exactly what I want to avoid from these sly NYC cabbies... but I'll put on my best 'Nu Joisey' twang, just in case.

Let me tell you what a difficult process it was for me to qualify:
It was the last day of school, and Dr. Norm Ross got up and explained how the Bowl works, that it would be held in Reno NV, and that all the expenses would be paid. He asked for volunteers to try out.
All I had heard was "Reno NV & all expenses paid".
I looked around the room at the smart(er) students, and they were all just staring into space saying nothing. So, I looked around again, and raised my hand.
Dr. Ross acted like he didn't see me at first, and kept saying, "Do you people have any idea what this is about?! This is a big deal! You'll be representing HCC on a national level!"
Nobody budged.
He looked around, and finally, he reluctantly acknowleged that I was the only one that volunteered. I think he was horrified at the prospect of me representing the school, but he had no choice. I wasn't a bad student, but if something had to be explained twice to someone, that someone was usually me.
There was a tie for first and second place, and I got third. I got lucky on the slab-off and vertex comp question, and didn't make my school look look too awful.
Reno was a blast, I met a ton of really nice people and learned how to play black jack.
My parents were really proud of me to have "earned" a spot to compete nationally, and someday, I'm going to have to admit to them that I was the only volunteer.
