Misc. Optical Lab Equipment for Sale

I have the following equipment for sale. All of this equipment is brand new never used even though it is about 15 years old. Make an offer.

    Qty:

6 Hardwood Rotary Lap Tool Racks like the Non slotted PSI Racks-$250 each
3 Kirk AA2 Heat Treat Machines with Temp Gauge-$50.00 each
    600 Job Trays-$0.50 each

Like I said, all of this equipment is new and never used and packaged for shipping. I do have pictures I can email to serious buyers. I am open to offers.

    Thank you in advance.

    Jim,

I'm sure that most of us have a pretty good idea of where this stuff is from, and I take my hat off to you for having the guts to go for it (like many of us were tempted to do).

I'd love to hear some of the stories involved with the logistics of how you moved all this stuff (if you did yet), how it was packaged, where you store it, and so on. I think it would make for very interesting reading.

Again, congrats, I give you a lot of credit! It's guys like you that make things happen, instead of waiting for someone to make it happen for you.

    Johns,

Thank you for the compliment, I think.;) Obviously ALOT of people were interested in this lot, but the sheer size of and its current location made it a little more than most people want to handle. I actually courted this lot for about 3 months myself before we finally "made a deal". And I cannot take all the credit. I have a partner in crime that is working on this with me and he too is in the optical industry. I attribute the ability to handle this type of lot to plainly being alot closer physically to it than anyone else and as my wife would say I was born a junker and will die that way. Actually one of my better friends (God rest his soul) spent most of his life dealing with surplus, mostly military and I have had many ocassion to view lots of this size. Most of the lot sits in an 11x24 storage unit stacked about 15ft high. The equipment we have moved to a more convenient location for shipping and I have about 5,000 pairs of lenses in my garage (so far). We are one of the lucky ones when it comes to the frames in that we believe from what we have counted so far, we have almost all complete pairs (meaning enough temples and fronts to marry). We also received a large amount of the frames already assembled. The lot was packaged mostly inside what is called a triwall. If you can imagine that big bin of watermelons or pumpkins at the supermarket they are usualy in a triwall. I figure we had about 40 of those triwalls to go through wtth hundreds of boxes inside the triwalls. Needless to say, this will be an ongoing project for a while. What surprised me the most was that this stuff is as new as the day it was packed. You would think the plastic lens stock would be yellowed, but not one we looked at (and we looked at alot of them) was marred in any way. If you have never had the opportunity to see 600 job trays or 20,000 eyeglass cases palletized, I highly suggest the view. Being a vet myself, I thought I had a good idea of what it takes for our military to mobilze, but after looking at this lot and what must be a drop in the bucket of the actual amount of materials that our military moves on a daily basis, I again say God Bless America. :)

    Jim,

I most definitely was meant as a compliment!

The main reason I didn't bid on it was because of MY wife, and the need to clear out the warehouse before I buy any large lots again.

Six years ago I went to an auction in Pa. of a chair factory that went belly-up. There was a huge blizzard, and hardly anyone showed up. The handfull of people that did show up were interested in only a fewl of the smaller items. I wasn't interested in anything. When it came time for the bulk bid, I raised my hand and said $5,000. (I still don't know why). Anyway, I ended up with over 14 semi truck loads (the moving cost more than the bid) of equipment, pallets full of chair seats, hardware, forklifts, lathes, tools, and everything else. I thought my wife was going to shoot me-in fact I was hoping she would. Anyway, it took me 4 years, but I finally sold everything off, except for about 400 carved table legs, which we burn in our fireplace every night.

I can relate to your purchase, but I also thank you for saving me from myself!

It has been awhile since I used a 505. What would you be willing to go down to in an offer for them?

Do you still have the frame warmers? Are they air or salt pans? What make/model?
    Thanks!

They are salt pan and I am not sure who manufactured them, it was some sort of electrical company in the northeast US. I have 3 of the salt pans left. Thanks

I'm really looking for an air warmer, but thanks for the reply! Any hand tools in good shape? U.V. meter?
    Thanks!
