OptiBoard Referral Contest!

Ok, here's the deal. The new OptiBoard has a method of crediting you with any referrals you make to this site that result in new Members. To learn more about how to do this, visit this link:

What are referrals?

Simply put, you would send someone a link to OptiBoard that includes your unique referral ID which will look something like this:

http://www.optiboard.com/forums/index.php?referrerid=XXX

...with your ID replacing the XXX. You'll see your ID and the exact URL when you visit the link above.

So what do you get for recruiting new Members other than my eternal gratitude?

Hmmm....I'll have to think of something! Nonetheless I will come up with a suitable reward for the top 5 referrers between now and August 1, 2001.

Dear Steve,

I have a few friends in the industy.You may have even met one or two. ;) I have sent some to Optiboard but have no way of knowing wether or not they registered.Should I recontact them with the refferal # or just keep my efforts focused on new contacts ?

Steve a slight hitch here if i use the link in your post i get no refer id.....
but if i use the faq link on the top of the page then go to referels than it shows up. I think this is a cookie problem as opening a new window it seems not to pick up who you are. :hammer:

You can use the memberlist to see if your friends have registerd. Besides the contest starts from this point forward so they wouldn't count anyway. :(

The link works for me so I'm not sure what the problem is. Maybe a few more people could test it out and let me know.

I wasn't trying to count them.....I was just trying to find them. If someone uses a handle that is not their given name..as is the case with my friend mentioned in the Moderator's forum, there is no way I would know if they registered or not.Sounds like John R is off and running :D :D I'm just trying to avoid duplicating efforts on folks who have already registered.....I would Never claim members from before today......it wouldn't be fair!:bbg: :bbg: :bbg:

Great idea Steve.
A nice prize would be a new Dodge Viper. I do understand in these economic times that this might be kinda expensive so if ya cant afford that, a Dodge Stealth would suffice.

Well if the truth be told, David put me onto this "Optiboard" through the links on his publication "Wavelength" www.tafensw.edu.au/oten/wavelength/ So that may be cheating on his part! ;)

Just to let you know that David's 'official' referral wasn't you - so know cheating was involved! :)

I just found a neat feature that let's me see who each member referred. Pretty cool!

Do you want to know a great way to get a lot of referrals without a lot of work? Just add your referral link to the signature in all your emails. Anyone who clicks on that link and registers will be counted as your referral!

P.S. Don't tell anyone I told you this! ;)

The referral is a professional colleague. But, with regard to Corey's comment about, Wavelength, the next issue, which will be out soon will have the hotlink changed to inclue my referral number. Hey, I could use a Dodge Viper!

Ahhh....but unfortunately it doesn't count because you didn't use his referrid. Don't worry though, I'm not getting any credit either and I've found a few members myself over the years! :D

Sorry but once you've registered there's no way to make it count retroactively. I looked but there's no option to do this. The system tracks these things automatically.

Actually this could be dangerous! :finger:

Since the forums use cookies to know who you are and keep track of your specific options, letting someone else use your computer to log into OptiBoard means that they could inadvertently login as you. I strongly advise against this.
