Anyone Know about Optical Dynamics going out of business?

I have recently heard that Optical Dynamics has let all their people go. I have tried calling there and only get a recorder. I am unable to reach my sales rep. I would appreciate any information if you have any about the future of this company and my casting system.

..and from my understanding continue to operate as before under a new name. The new owners are well established in the ophthalmic lens industry from what I have heard.

I know the new owner. He purchased the business and is looking to change the business model to more effectively market the technolgies that Optical Dynamics developed.

are they not marketing their casting technology? Or are they not marketing it very well? It sound like something you would read in a stockholder annual report.

It means that Optical Dynamics is looking to more effectively market their technologies.

I would assume this includes a change due to the fact the previous marketing did not work very well for them. I would have suggested taking a Gillette business model. "Give away the razors so you can sell the blades" If you don't get razor (casting system), distribution you can't sell many blades (lbs of monomer).

The razor blade approach is certainly a good business model as long as people like your razor and want to continue using it. I believe they were smart in selling alot of blades up front with the razor because most people would not reorder the blades. Most have more blades then they can or want to use. I am sure that is why they are now under new ownership.

On Novermber 28, 2006 we received a letter from ODC stating that all the assets and holdings of ODC have been sold to Financial Resource Associates Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio and that they have been instructed to sell and dispose of the assets of ODC to pay the creditors.
