    Vista

Anyone updated to Vista yet, and what do you think. It's one of Microsoft's critical updates, I haven't installed as of yet, still waiting for some feedback, I'm happy with Windows XP.”

Are there any compelling reasons to switch to Vista?

Have your business software applications been problematic?

Are your practice management software vendors going to di a Vista version?

Vista is a "critical update" (that is, one that can be downloaded from Windows Update)? That doesn't sound right at all; surely they're going to charge for the VIsta upgrade. Are you sure you're not thinking of IE7?

Vista seems great if you want to buy a much more expensive graphics card and about 4x the system ram. Great for computer component sales.

Analysts have predicted the shortest time for adaption, but I just dont' see it happening.

Sorry for any misunderstanding. The citation in blue above is from Rich R’s post http://www.optiboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20537. I should have deleted the first clause of the second sentence. I have been a beta tester of Vista for nearly a year and was trying to get a feel for end used acceptance of the new OS.

Yes. Vista will require a lot of new hardware and the bar for an entry level system will be raised. I have been doing a lot of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Premier Pro web content and fine that I need a duel core processor with 4M or RAM. More to the point, for production software in an optical enterprise, I have found it to be a rock solid platform to run SQL Server and Oracle and it seems to work well in a heterogeneous environment (at least with Solaris and Linux.) There will likely be a lot of confusion though, with the multiple versions of Vista that will be released.
