    Router help

I'm finally upgrading from dial up to cable high speed in about 2 weeks.
My wife and I have 2 computers in a different part of the house and I'll need a router to be able to get both on the internet.
Right now I know zero about cable, routers and how it all works, any recomendations or input is appreciated.

I personally like the lynksys routers pretty easy to configure and decent looking on your desk. Try to get a 4 port and wireless to allow you to upgrade later if necessary. In the wireless you will see a variety of types available. I would suggest at least a G although it would be best to get a N this will allow you the best range.

    Wireless!!! Horay!
The cable guys would be more than happy to help you set it up, and make sure it's secure if you go wireless. I know many people with "free" wireless b/c their neighbor doesn't require a log-in to access the web.

I set my D-Link wireless router with both WEP authorization and for further protection I only allow specific MAC addresses to access the router. This is all very easy to set up in the router admin page.
