    NEW Optical Search Engine

    I have developed a new site which harvests the power of google search to search only optical websites. This new search engine is a portal for opticiains, optometrists, and ophthalmologists. There are over 500 different optical sites and more being added daily. If you are doing a search on anything optical try this first.

    http://optics.onlineopticianry.com

    Please let me know what you think and how I could improve it, or if you think a site is missing please post it and we will add it to our ever growing list of sites.

    Harry, I've only know about it for two minutes, and already it's helped me out! Very good call! Now, I can find what I need w/o sorting through a ton of unrelated information.

    Thank you Chris.

    I have the code for a search box if anyone would like to place a search box on their web page:

    HTML Code:
    <form id="searchbox_013556026738663486413:wrydpeziyje" action="http://onlineopticianry.com/optics/searchresults.php">
      <input type="hidden" name="cx" value="013556026738663486413:wrydpeziyje" />
      <input name="q" type="text" size="40" />
      <input type="submit" name="sa" value="Search" />
      <input type="hidden" name="cof" value="FORID:09" />
    </form>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/coop/cse/brand?form=searchbox_013556026738663486413%3Awrydpeziyje"></script>

    Thanks, I actually enjoyed working on this one because it would always frustrate me when doing searches at work and when my boss saw it she flipped out.

    What else would you expect from a math major?

    Just for kicks, I typed "Optical search engine" into Harry Chiling's new Optical search engine. It returned two pages of "hits" - but it did not return any references to itself or its own website - the website that Harry's search engine resides on.

    Does that surprise anyone?

    I haven't the foggiest - I've never implemented anything even remotely like an Internet search engine.

    Where are the real hard-core software geeks ..?

    Rinselberg, I have actually looked over every site that the search engine searches and approved it for search so that their will be no erroneous results when you do a search. I didn't include the search engine in the search engine because I thought it would be a little redundant.

    It took about a week, I only sleep 2-3 hours a night so I have to do some thing. If you need help with your website let me know, that is one of my hobbies.

    Again thank you everyone, I am glad that it is usefull and will strive to improve it and other projects I am working on, and as always keep it open and free for the community.

    I did a search for "optronics edger" , and got good results. I tried the same search on the results page and the Mysite.com page opened. I then tried random words, all opened the Mysite.com web page................From your results page...........

    Sorry, I used that as a place holder and didn't change it in a version that I used to update the engine. It's fixed and thank you for pointing that out.

    New feature added, now you have the option of searching the engine alone or the search engine with additional contact lens parameter data provided by CL Data

    New Code for including in your site:

    HTML Code:
    <form id="searchbox_013556026738663486413:wrydpeziyje" action="http://onlineopticianry.com/optics/searchresults.php">
      <input type="hidden" name="cx" value="013556026738663486413:wrydpeziyje" />
      <input name="q" type="text" size="40" /> <input type="submit" name="sa" value="Search" />
         <div style="font-size: 11px;"><img src="new.gif" />
            <input name="cl" type="radio" value="0" CHECKED />Optics SE Only
            <input name="cl" type="radio" value="1" />Optics SE and CL Data
         </div>
      <input type="hidden" name="cof" value="FORID:10" />
    </form>

    Excellent! Added it to my favorites bar, thank you!

    A man went to an eye specialist to get his eyes tested and asked, "Doctor, will I be able to read after wearing glasses?"
    "Yes, of course," said the doctor, "why not!"
    "Oh! How nice it would be," said the patient with joy, "I have been illiterate for so long."
