    1-800 Brad Scott?

You know those annoying calls from 1-800 and the always mention that the contact person is 'Brad Scott', now here is the question...WHO IS HE?! IS HE REAL?! I know I've tried to contact him and of course end up getting passed on to some twit! Does any one know who the heck he is?

Donn, Probably a code word for complaining ECP. That probably gets you put on the leave verifications on the overnight voicemail box list.

If you perform a whois on the web address the information you get is more accurate:

I have called them here before and they are usually suprised that you got this number, and with a little social engineering you could get the phone number for a VP or some other head honcho and bug the heck out of them.

Brad is a busy man - he is everyone's contact person. I have to admit it wouldn't be a 1-800 confirmation call without the contact line. "Your contact person at 1-800-Contacts (short pause) is (insert longer dramatic automated pause) Brad Scott."

Ah, Brad Scott. What a life this lad has led. His papa was a rolling stone, his momma..well lets just say she was always too "busy" to be tending to Brad. Brad had a real rough time with the education system. He didn't care much for school. Real bad vision, too. He literally wore "Coke Bottle Glasses". He hated them darn things too! He always longed for contacts, but they were way beyond his means. Sad upbringing to say the least. I grew up a few houses down from Brad and we got to know each other real well. Good ole Brad and I used to be drinking buddies. He was quite the hell raiser. He would pick a fight with a grizzly bear if the oppurtunity provided! He was a real ladies man, too. I wasn't. So I snagged the first female who showed any interest in me and sorta lost track of ole Brad. And what do you know, Optidonn pops up his name here. I am so glad that to hear that ole Brad has finally turned his wretched life around! Look at him now! Good for Brad. Looks like the dreams of a "Coke Bottle" glasses wearing delinquent can come true! 1-800-contacts huh, my, my, my. He finally made it! We all know about him, have heard and seen his name. And I can say...I knew him when!

    Play it again Sam

I put it on the microphone and let it play then when it says hit 9 to replay I reach over and hit it sometimes if I'm not real busy maybe 10 or so times. If everyone did this they would rethink this deal. I love to hear Brad talk. Eat up their phone time.

Bill you are absolutely right, toll free numbers carry a per minute charge, and the automated calls are done by computer so if you tie up their computers you are hitting them in 2 ways.

1 - You are effectively raising their IT costs through the phone bill.

2 - You are slowing down the number of verifications they can perform by tieing up the computer.

This could be considered a distributed denial of service attack, if every one were to get in on doing this, so I wouldn't suggest it. ;)

I enjoy harassing them by insisting I speak with Brad Scott. When the person at 1-800 tells me he/she can take the call, I explain I need to speak with Brad and only Brad because our doctor insists I speak with the contact person given by their company. I also enjoy taking the time to replay their messages an infinite number of times - it's playing right now as a matter of fact.

    Re: Brad

We all know there is no Brad Scott. It was just an easy one for the phone drone rather than butcher someone's real name.

    He is a REAL boy!!!

I was looking around, and he is the marketing director of 1800-contacts. You can see his LinkedIn profile at http://www.linkedin.com/in/bradscott. Very informative... good to know that it only takes a couple of years at a community college to become marketing director of the company!

Nope. No action at the North Pole Inn. He now hangs out at the Stumble Inn with me and Fezz.
