    Help! Can't find frame tags!

We have frame price tags that are shaped like a long rectangle with an opening in each end. The frame temple slips through those two openings. I am almost out of them, and I cannot find anyone who sells the darn things! Please help if you know who makes them. I didn't work here when we got them the first time, and I have searched high and low, but to no avail.
    Thanks in advance.

    LOL-Yeah...
I had checked in my catalog, so I didn't think they had them. But sure enough, when I checked the website, there they were!
    Thanks anyway!

You should try some tags that can't be removed unless they are cut off. It will prevent people from switching tags. Arch Crown has a Fiber Tuff tag that is great.

I don't care for the permanent style you're talking about. They're messy.

I personally like the ones from Amcon that have two slits at each end. They stay on better, but still are the easy slide off to remove.

Personally we haven't had much issue with tags being switched around or anything. With a small dispensary, and having an associate over there whenever a patient is looking, that problem just doesn't come up. If were a bit larger of an operation, I could see the concern.

they do come off easy, but since we use full barcodes with details printed on them, the slip ons work pretty well here.

Fortunately, I am the only employee who sells and dispenses glasses here. Therefore, I know that a switched tag would be caught. Also, unless we are REALLY busy, I work one-on-one with every patient, handing them frames and suggesting styles. Patients are never left alone with my boards. Heaven forbid they replace them in the wrong spot!

We gave up on frame tags long ago. I was tired of picking them up all day when they fel off.

We price all of our frames by category. For example: A Nike full rim is XXX, a private label drill mount is XXX, all of brand A are XXX. Overall, there is only a slight difference in pricing within a category, so we err on the + side.

It makes it easy when the new frames come in.

We have a master list, and surprisingly, it's only as large as an index card. (10 price levels).

    Johns,
Are your prices marked in anyway so a consumer/patient/customer can see them? I have been in a few offices where the frames did not have any prices marked. I observed a few patients in each practice question this and then seemed annoyed when told the price. Maybe they felt like the prices were pulled out of the dispensers whatever, made up or, scamed? The one practice later told me that they never mark the price..they gauge what they feel the customer is willing to pay, or how annoying the patient is and base the price on that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, they are not marked in anyway. We do have the categories written down, and we keep them in plain view of the customers. That way, they can see that we're not making up the prices as we go along. Our customers can see the turnover (some stop in weekly to see the new styles) and it would be a nightmare trying to keep everything tagged.

"Gauging what the pt. is willing to pay?" Yeah, I've heard of that, and I think it's the biggest mistake a retailer can make.

    Looking for REUSEABLE tags

We're also looking for tags. Waaaaay back we used to get them from Luxottica; those things last for years. The ones we've been using are not easily reusable (I'm thrifty) and I really want some which are impervious to acetone (to erase the fine-tip felt from). Any suggestions to that end?
I'd love to find out who supplied Luxottica's and if they're still available.

I once worked in an office that used colored dot stickers for the prices, then had a few charts with the dot color and the corresponding price. Dot stickers were from Avery. Dots were put on the lower left demo lens.

I use the Arch Crown #917 jewelry tags. They're white with a string to tie around the hinge. Sure, they look like Minnie Pearl, but they don't come off.

Stormin' Norman's. They're from ArchCrown and you can buy as few as 100 or several thousand.
