Just wondered how often everyone backs up important data, just in case, and what hardware / software you use.
I've been backing up about monthly to dvd or cd, recently been using 1gb usb drives with freeware backup utility.

We backup twice daily to USB thumb drives. The evening backup goes home with someone, the midday stays in a fireproof safe. The evening backups are on different drives for each day of the week just in case there is a corruption that requires a restore from a few days ago. We are far from paperless so our backup mostly consists of appointment times, financial details, etc. and is a pretty quick job.
We do a weekly drive image using Acronis True Image to a removeable USB 120gb drive. That way, even if the drive dies, I can be up and running in about an hour with a new drive. I also back up Medisoft's data every day to a spare hard drive.
Yes, it all stays onsite, but in different areas of the building.I suppose I could take the USB drive home after backup, though.
