    Google Earth

I had heard about Google Earth before but I didn't install it until today so I could look up our new house in Silver City, New Mexico. It's incredible. You definitely should check it out.

You can see our new house at these coordinates:

    32º 48' 46.88" N
    108º 16' 26.78" W

It's the one with the blue roof. We'll begin moving there over the next few weeks.

If you put "32 48 46.88 108 16 26.78" directly into the little search box, you end up looking at a river somewhere west of Wuhan, China.

"32 48 46.88 -108 16 26.78" works much better, or you could make a placemark out of it, like the attached file. You'll have to change the extension to .kmz from .txt to make it open in Google Earth, since the forum won't let you upload *.kmz files.

So I started playing with Google earth to check out the Las Vegas strip. Take a look at what a satellite image of the Luxor looks like:

    36 05 44.91, -115 10 32.41

Wow, the more I check this out the more amazing it is. I'm enough of an aging Geek to remember what it was like when I got my first color monitor.

    Oooohhhh - colors! :D

I will only download this program if I can see my neighbourhood in detail, like, the roof of my house! I'd like to have someone check for me to see if we're included in the hi-rez.

    Cindy,
Not only can we see the roof of your house, BUT, someone is snooping around outside your window. QUICK LOOK !!!!

Perhaps I'm not using it right? I find the resolution to be poorer than google earth in most cases, the colour washed out in others.

The 3-D effect is cool...check out Niagara Falls.

A signature is something added to downloadable files to hopefully ensure some sense of security. It is supposed to mean that you are downloading from a trusted source. Just click the download anyway button (or whatever it is called), it won't affect your program or its operation.
