From the Optiboard group, hello to you as well. Where are you from and what are your education, licensing and regulation requirements? That seems to be some of the differences around the globe.

Hey Diane - I'm from Matthews, North Carolina, USA. I am a Licensed Optician. AAS degree in Opticianry 1987. I hold licenses in VA, NJ, & NC. Where are you from?? As for the licensing requirement, in varies from State to State some of which do not require licensing however the general rule is knowledge in dispensing, neutralization, bench work, & ofcourse optical theory. Some States require some knowledge of Contact Lenses, and some requires knowledge in surfacing. I hope this helps some.

I am trying to find work in the USA is it possible to be sponsored? I am not a qualified optician ( I think your qualification system is very different to ours) however I know how to do some fitting, repairs, px enquiries, adjustments, lens types, and other skills. Any advice on who to contact for a job?
Thanks for your time
