What are your favorites unusual frames line?

I'm looking to bring in some querky frames that would not be readly available at the local Dr office or at the Super-chain-stores.
I would like them to retail between $300 and $ 600
    Thank you

I would say the three piece mounts from Gold & Wood are some of the more unusual and querky pieces I've seen. Their new line made of different varieties of horn are outstanding. Their traditional frames are nice, but I'm partial to three peice mounts since the shape options are endless.

Face-a-Face Paris is also a fun line and would fit that price range. Kieselstein-Cord are also querky in the sunglass realm.

    Leonardo D

The best line for women in presbyopia is Leonardo D hands down. They are 22ct. gold over titanium; some have hand painting that is tasteful in all colors and absolutely beautiful. A few have diamond, or similiar gemstones available, and one for men in particular had ivory in the temples (From a wooly mammoth - with documentation). I bought one for my mom, and it's her prized pair. Most are drill mounts, so you can customize lens shapes, if you're into that, and their frames can be ordered with many combinations of demo lens shapes.
I don't know if they have a website anymore, but I know you can get info about them at the NY Vision Expos. Someone who might still have their book from then could give you a phone number or email address.
PM me if you have any other questions,
    William

    The leonardos sound really intriguing.
I commented on a guys glasses in the gas station the other day and asked if I could look at them. They were called "One World" (anyone heard of that?) and were a shocking blue with the coolest temple design. I will have to research it some more and see if I can find some pics to post.

Hey, One World is sold at Wal-Mart vision centers! They are a PAIN to mount if they are semi rimless.....

I second Face A Face, we had a trunk show last month with Phillipe and it's always a strong seller. I'm also quite partial to Theo/Eyewitness from Belgium. Bellinger from Denmark has done some great things with temple design of the past couple of years.

I'm a fan of Theo as well. also, Etnia from Barcelona is quite good. Smaller, fairly inexpensive and well made. Great colors.

Of the slightly more mainstream and quirky, I'm a HUGE fan of ProDesign from Denmark. That's pretty much I'll I've personally worn for about 4 years now.

I'd like to get some opinions on Etnia glasses. They seem to be a good middle ground in terms of prices compared to other brands such as those from Denmark.

Are they usually "pushed" to customers or requested for by people visiting the store? How durable are the frames and are there any particular difficulties in mounting the lenses? Thanks.

It also seems that most of the unusual frames while unique in looks don't emphasize much on the comfort aspects. Many with exquisite temples do not have spring hinges. Am I right to say that? I don't yet carry any of these non-mainstream glasses.

My last office carried Etnia. I was pretty impressed by it, especially for the price. Good construction. We never had any problems at all with breakages and the service was pretty good too.

Thanks for the info. I will most certainly check out this brand.

One of the unusual frame that I've been looking at is parasite (www.parasite-eyewear.com). I think it really stands out.

Parasite has a really cool looking style. The issue I've heard with them is the size. Apparently some don't have hinges at all but even the hinged ones are large because of the split temple.

Those Parasite look cool, but they seem unweildy to the max. Took difficult to store in a case I imagine.

We were looking at the Minima collection yesterday as a possible replacement for silhouette. Have to say I was fairly impressed.

So this thread has lead me to some great places. I'm going to add some fun and funky favorites:

We also love our Guccis and Cazals!

BTW anyone carrying the Parasite line? Those look bada**. Some of them remind me of (older) Ovvo women's suns.

The only thing that kind of bugs me is that they have spring hinges. I severely dislike spring hinges.

A few lines come to mind:

    Mykita (shameless plug)
    IC Berlin
    Blac eyewear
    orgreen
    gotti
    theo
    Blackfin

pretty much anything that smacks of Scandinavian-ish-ness will get you where you want to be.

    Brands to avoid:
I used to really like Etnia, but their designs never really progressed. Pro-design was once an amazing company with edgy designs, now I am physically ill when I go to their website. Ronit Furst is the most delusional artitistry I've ever seen on such a large scale. Silhouette is the worst company I've ever worked with. J.F. Rey has terrible customer service. Modo frames are way too rigid and their colors aren't great.

I don't have Modo at my location, but my two sister stores LOVE them. Especially the Eco line. I'll have to check out some of the others you mentioned. IC Berlin and Theo I have been witness to and like both their lines.

So I need a Bellinger account... that's decided now. I also am digging the Blackfin line!

    Aaaaagghhh! Zombie thread!

From Morel France, I recommend Oga and Koali. There are lots of frames from Prodesign Denmark in that category. And I'm a huge fan of DeRigo REM's John Varvatos line for men and women.

I do like Varvatos, i just don't like REM. OGI, especially the Seraphin line. High quality, good styles, decent pricing. Innotech is also a good line to work with.
