Does anyone have any thoughts on Safilo/Sola's Enigma package? The only thing I have heard or read about it is in Vision Monday.

I work (in field sales) for a Hoya wholesale lab, and all I can say is that not one of my accounts have so much as inquired about the product. I suspect that even those customers who have seen the trade journal advertising, simply do not "get it".
When it comes to new product technology, my clients tend to be very demanding. I receive calls and questions all the time about what they see in the magazines. For example, I have had several clients ask me about Optima's new polycarbonate, as well as the colorful "Solera" photochromic lenses in recent weeks.
As for "Enigma", I think that the fact that no one else has posted any comments on the subject indicates the level of interest out there -- at least for now.
Since posting this message the Safilo rep swung by with them. As I understand it he is only allowed so many Enigma accounts in his area making it a bit of an exclussive product. It took us awhile to weigh the cost versus how many we thought we would need to sell a month to make it back up. We have decided to give them a try and just got the display in a few days ago. The frames do look better than I initially thought they would, especially the three-piece mounts. I have a feeling we will end up doing well with the rimless mounts. Actually, I think I want to give one a try.
The lens is definitely out of the box thinking. I did see examples of the product. It is limited in powers at this time. I did find the peripheral vision to be outstanding. People who have specific peripheral vision needs or the technically driven will enjoy the look and optics. As powers increase this could become a product that sets the progressive dispensary apart from the typical dispensary.

Who is generating the lenses? Is it Sola themselves?

The lenses are molded in Australia and edged by Sola in Hebron, Kentucky.
