The more letters behind their names the more respect they expected from others and often also got. In today's age it is all BS but it still impresses some people.
That is why I invented my own proper titles on the optiboard and have puzzled many among the times over the last 4 years.

I beg to differ...not all (optical) initials after a name are unworthy of respect. I am rather proud of my ABOM and FCLSA designations, but unfortunately very few in Canada have any idea what they represent.

Not too many ABOM and FCLSA. A few years ago there were only 7 of us. Can't be more than about 10 now considering the pass rate of ABO advance and then submitting their papers and passing the fellow exam after the NCLC-AC exam.Originally Posted by tmorse
