Favorite progressive for previous ST wearer

I remember seeing a study on this board for progressives that compared many different aspects of a long list of progressive. I believe it was done by Ohio University. Can anyone post the link to that site again please. Also, what is your favorite cheap progressive to switch someone from bifocals. Thanks!!

    Shameless Plug

Try the Futurise from Polycore Optical USA. Soft, wide aspheric design with no astigmatic error above the 180.

    Thanks Judy,

I do not have access to them in Canada. Do you have another suggestion from either Sola/Zeiss or Essilor?

From Essilor, Varilux Liberty is recommended for bifocal conversions. That said, most motivated bifocal wearers are able to adapt fairly easily into a PAL.

I might also recommend trying Varilux Physio, since the distance vision is quite sharp (and the bifocal wearer is used to undisturbed distance vision.

Darryl will have a better answer than I regarding Zeiss/SOLA products, but SOLAMax has a particularly large near area- so I would think a bifocal wearer would fare pretty well in that design. Personally, when I was dispensing I found SOLA VIP worked really well for bifocal wearers as well.

After the demise of the Smart Seg. . .

we've used the Liberty successfully on a number of patients. Nobody's puked yet!

    Good luck!!

We use the ovation a lot in that situation. Works wonders.

However, two months ago I used the Super No Line and the person still adapted.

The change over is not in the design, but in the patients heart.

I haven't done (or recommended) very many ST to PAL conversions, but one approach might be to select the design based on how they use their eyes, adjusting the corridor length accordingly.
