When interviewing for an open position in our office we sometimes run into a situation where the applicant states they were at one time a licensed optician in Ohio or another state and we would like to verify as we have been blown away on several occasions. apparently they were not or I don't know how they passed the exam. Where can we go to verify this info. Short of making them take a test in office and do a practical for us.
I am not sure about Ohio, but in Florida there is a web site through the Departmant of Health to verify professional licenses.
Massachusetts also has a website where you can check a license.

The National Federation of Opticianry Schools has the websites of many licensed states on their links page.You can get to them with any search engine.

www.op.nysed.gov
As a manager, I have called the state boards for the states and they were happy to verify the license over the phone.
