Good place to redo lenses in SF Bay Area

    Hi All,

I purchased a pair of Oakley prescription sunglasses that wrap around my face last year at a local store. After using them for a short while, I noticed a slight bluriness compared to my regular standard prescription glasses. This causes me a slight headache when I switch between my normal glasses and this pair during the day. I went back to the store and told them about it and they said they could not do anything about this. I ask them if there was a way to compensate for the curvature of the lense and was told no.

However, after browsing through this helpful and informative site, I read a posting by AWTECH stating that "Any lens that is placed into a wrap frame requires different than traditional prescription lens processing to allow the patient the same vision as a standard flat everyday eyewear."

Now that I know the truth, I would like your help in recommending me a place where I can have my lenses redone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Suggestion:

Is it possible to contact Oakley direct and let them know about your situation? You should get the referral from them. If not, I am aware of this place:

    Focal Point Opticians
    2638 Ashby Ave
    Berkeley, CA 94705

    Good Luck!

If they were in fact manufactured by Oakley, the increase of wrap will already be compensated for. Oakley does include a copy of this compensated RX with the spectacles for the dispenser to verify. It is possible that the lenses were manufactured improperly, but it is also likely that you may not be able to adapt regardless of what is done with the lenses

how do you know it is lens curve.

Could be other things other than wrap round effects,so you might waste your money on changing lenses. I would check whether tint is appropriate as symptoms are consistent with tint problems.

The RX lenses were definitely not Oakley's to begin with. When I first put them on, I did notice a slight blur when looking at images off center. As far as tint, the glasses are lightly tinted don't know if that matters. Again, thanks for all the input so far.
