Ask not what science can do for you ...

If you would like to entertain the possibility of putting your personal computer to work in the name of science, here's your website:

    http://boinc.berkeley.edu/

Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing

I have this computer running 24/7, scouring the universe for Einstein's gravity waves and for signals from advanced extraterrestrial civilizations.

It hasn't interfered with my use of the computer for other purposes in the slightest.

There are a number of other science applications that you could run by going to the BOINC website (above).

QD01 organized a SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) OptiBoard team that you could join, if you only want to run the SETI application:

    Thanks for that :D

I think this is a similar idea to the SETI program?

There are 12 different "at home" science applications that anyone can select to run at the BOINC webpage. SETI is one, Einstein another one ... and at this time, ten more science projects are online like this at BOINC.
