Anybody seen a job from an online?

We all know that you lose a lot from ordering online glasses. Has anyone actually verified a job from one of these places though? How close was it to prescribed, how much distortion in the lens, etc?

Also, I'm assuming since most of these places are doing their jobs overseas there is no thought to minimum safety requirements (e.g. ANSI/CSA)

    Any experiences?

    We've seen two. . .

The first was a progressive (Adaptar) CR39 with AR. PD was wide about 3 mm total. The AR looked decent, lenses fit the frame. For how the frame sat on this woman the segs were 5 mm high, easy. Flopping the nose pads all the way out I could get her about midway down the corridor. I charged her $30.00 to trouble shoot it and credited her for buying new lenses from me.

The other was a 1.60 SV with AR. PD was on, lenses fit the frame, -2.50 cyl OU, off 2 degrees in 1 eye. It rolled right on axis though. $20.00 for the adjustment, but I've got to admit it was a decent pair of glasses. Somebody knew how to to fabricate. Nice bevel placement with an edger poish. Fed the crew pizza though, so I guess it wasn't all bad!
Days where my gratitude exceed my expectations are very good days!

making a decent pair is not difficult. Any of these companies can produce top quality lenses if they want at a cheap price. Obvious reasons is no retail rent, no staff, no licences, ect. Anyone can edge to meet the rx no problem.

The problem is centeration and fit. As Framebender pointed out, that was a major problem in the first case.

What is the point in wearing a PAL fit 5mm high.

5mm high seg. You can always tell the patient, you thought they wanted "computer glasses."
