    Suggestions for CPA...

We are working with a CPA who is struggling with her work environment. Her Montior sits 40inches, Calculator 28, and Near is 20 inches. She currently wears a trifocal, and it isn't doing the job.

We thought of making her a tri with the top being for the 40inch range, but this would decrease the add to a 125, and that isn't available.

Other options is to try a larger area Tri (14x35) with 61% of the add being in the intermediate, or trying her in an occupational lens (office).

Any other ideas I am missing here?

    Thanks,
    Cassandra

Try a Zeiss RD or a similar lens.

Why on earth does she have to sit 40 inches from the monitor? There is the real problem. That is a very deep desk, she surely can move the monitor in to the same distance as the calculator. I thought I had the biggest desk on the planet and measures 38" front to back. Maybe her desk is as cluttered as mine and the monitor just keeps getting pushed further and further away!

If the add is +2.50 then you want about +1.00 for 40", +1.375 for 28", and +2.00 for 20".

See if +.50 over the distant Rx is satisfactory for the monitor. If so, a segmented multifocal like X-CEL's 61% intermediate TRI would come close- put +.50 on the distance, with a 1.50 add. The near FL would be 20", and the calculator FL would be about 26" (.61 x +1.50 + (+.50)) = +1.42.

I would like to see if the calculator and monitor distances could be equalized to about 28"-30". Then you could use a bifocal with the top set for the monitor/calculator and the bottom for 16" to 20", making sure that the segment is below the line of sight to the calculator.

    Good luck,
