Days where my gratitude exceed my expectations are very good days!
Thank You :D

None other. ;) Though I recently got an "outbid" notice. Although the Job Coach is the last "classic" book on ophthalmic optics I need to complete my collection, I'll have to decide how much I'm really willing to shell out for it. Also, this particular version probably won't have many of the neat "technical updates" that they added over the years during the 50s and 60s.hmmmmm, and the winning bidder so far is dmeister, could that be our own Darryl

lguessopt huh?!? Could that be our own Larry Guess?? Good luck you guys!!;)

Probably. Maybe they should've just auctioned it off on OptiBoard. ;) In any event, I'll wait a day or two to see how the bidding looks. (I almost never use eBay.)

Yeah, it's me in the bidding for the Job Coach. Sorry to be bidding against you Darryl. My Job Coach was stolen (along with some other very valuable stuff) by a former employee. It had belonged to my dad, who was (in my opinion) the best damn optician who ever surfaced or edged a lens. Not only is some of the info as pertinent today as it was back then but I want to add it to my collection of my dad's stuff (very old pliers, a set of the famous AO prints, even his coffee cup!

No worries! However, maybe we should work out offline how much we're each willing to bet, so that we're not unnecessarily inflating the price for the other!Originally Posted by Larry

I think the seller owes Framebender big time. That book would have fetched 20 bucks if Framebender had not mentioned here on OB!
I bought one online a while back, it is a good manual. After my test I will have to put some time into scanning it into the computer.

If anyone has this book and is willing to scan it let me know. If it is too big a job to scan by yourself contact me and I can have it scanned in the US.
Doc
Wow - it's up to $86 and still 3 days to go!
I actually have on my desk, right now a 1970's edition of the B&L Job Coach for Prescription Laboratory Operations. The binding is spiral and too shot to take apart for scanning and expect to be able to re-bind, or I would offer docinchina a copy.
This thing has been a such an amazing reference. Whenever I browse through it I feel like a scientist!
Worth every dollar - good luck bidding!
Next week I will scan it and send it out to anyone who would like the information. Just let me know e-mail addresses.

OMG !!!!! Someone named dmeister23 just won the thing with a bid of $112.50
So, if any of you own a copy, now might be a good time to put it up for auction. ;)

WOW! Darryl you must have really, really, really, really, really, really wanted that book! I've only spend that much on a book twice in my life! I hope it is worth it!
The last two math books I bought were over $120, so this is a bargain as far as I'm concerned. ;)

I guess id better start reading it as many of you swear by it.
;)
There are better books out there with considerably more up-to-date information. But the Job Coach was very well written and was certainly one of the most comprehensive "manuals" available at the time -- covering basic optics, finishing, and surfacing.I guess id better start reading it as many of you swear by it.

Harry, I would love to have a copy of that manual. Please e-mail to rolandclaur@yahoo.com
