Have seen a little of this on TV. The woman also seems unwilling to proceed with her life as before. I see hundreds of monocular patients who do, and some who don't.

    Pity

I am sure that more will eventually come out swinging at B&L's big bank account...

In the long run it will not cost B&L a penny

The trial lawyers are crawling out of the woodwork as we speak. They will be the only winners in this. B&L (and all other solution manufacturers) will pass along the cost of litigation and increased liability insurance to the consumer. They will probably have to cut back on some of the freebies to the industry as well. Next year at this time the consumer will have forgotten all about it.

And, this is the perfect opportunity for some bleeding heart political hack to cash in by proposing some feel good legislation to insure that this never happens again. I thought it might be Patches Kennedy, but he is going to go to the Mayo Clinic to get spin dried again and will not available for comment. Maybe what we need is a seven day waiting period on all CL solutions.

How many more must lose an eye, Mr. Speaker? How many more?

Maybe not, but as I have said before, they should be PRESCRIBED by the fitter. Sounds outrageous, right?...and I suppose it is. It could never be implemented or enforced. Patients can already get the lenses without a prescription, so other than through patient education and voluntary compliance, how can you ever get total safety? Patient selection and mismanagement of solutions can do more serious damage anyday than most things we prescribe in eyecare.

We could go back to spectacles
